What
is Pop Photographica? By Daile Kaplan
Pop photographica is a term I coined to describe everyday objects adorned with photographic images. The photographer may be Ansel Adams (whose photograph of Yosemite adorns this Hills Brothers coffee can), a family member, or anonymous. It really doesn’t matter. Immediately familiar, these decorative or functional artifacts, which are typically not displayed on a wall (hence, they are "off the wall") celebrate photography’s ability to personalize our everyday experiences
View the wonderful range of photographic objects by clicking on Gallery. Or, take the pop photographica tour in my New York studio, which is open by appointment only. Classes are welcome.
